Classical Rome!

This morning we started with Mass at St. Paul's basilica, followed by some sightseeing-we saw the Colosseum, walked past the Roman fora, and had some lunch. We then headed to the Trevi fountain, the Pantheon, Piazza Navona, and Santa Maria Sopra Minerva-the church where St. Catherine of Sienna is buried.

After Piazza Navona, we split up. Half the group decided to head back to the hotel and rest, while the other half went with Fr. John on an adventure towards the Vatican. We saw several paintings by Caravaggio (The Calling of St. Matthew, The Inspiration of St. Matthew, and The Martyrdom of St. Matthew) We then headed over Bernini's bridge of angels, towards Castel Sant'Angelo and the Vatican. Some of the group went into St. Peter's Basilica briefly, before we headed back to the hotel for dinner and fellowship.

It's very late yet again here, so the pictures I have saved on another memory card are with one of the girls upstairs-I will try to get those up tomorrow if I have the time!
